Healesville Sanctuary

Last week the Year 1s and 2s put on their hats and backpacks, and ventured out to Healesville Sanctuary for a fun-fulled day of learning and exploring. We were lucky enough to see many endangered species such as the Tasmanian Devil, the Pygmy Possom and the Wallaby among many others. The children also enjoyed the bird show, ‘Spirits of the Sky’. We had a wonderful day in the sun, and it really made us think about what we can do to help conserve our environment. Below are some photos from the excursion (click on the images to make them bigger).

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

As we are venturing closer to the end of our topic of investigation ‘Our Natural Environment’, we are now starting to think about the impact that humans have on the environment, and how we can help to conserve and protect it. There are many things that we can do, such as Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.

Our Natural Environment

This term our topic of investigation is ‘Our Natural Environment’. We will be exploring many different types of environments around the world such as rainforests and the Arctic, as well as some that are more close to home such as our school environment.

The first natural environment we investigated was the desert. We learnt about the climate, animals, plants and other interesting things that can be found in the desert. Take a look at our cactus artwork below, and let us know what you think in the comments!
